National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM), the National Think Tank in partnership with the University of Florida, USA as part of an international academic collaboration organized a dialogue on “Food Security: Strengthening Agricultural Resilience to Disasters” on 16th Oct 2025 at NDMA HQ.
 
The session brought together leading professors, researchers, and practitioners from both Pakistan and the United States to share ongoing research, innovative approaches, and best practices in food security and disaster risk reduction. This collaborative engagement aimed to enhance knowledge exchange and promote sustainable solutions to safeguard Pakistan’s food systems against climate-induced disasters such as floods, droughts, food security and sea level rise.
Experts from both sides presented their work on agriculture resilience to disasters, water resource management, and ecosystem-based adaptation, emphasizing the importance of integrating science-based solutions into national agricultural planning.
 
The dialogue provided a platform to explore opportunities for joint research, academic exchange, and technology transfer to strengthen community-level resilience and food security. NIDM reaffirmed its commitment to fostering global academic linkages and promoting knowledge-driven disaster management practices.
