The Pakistan Academy of Sciences recently hosted a 5-day International Training Workshop on Climate Change and Water Safety Effects along the CPEC, bringing together 120+ national and 20 international delegates from the Hindu Kush Himalaya region.

Jointly organized by CPJRC, PAS, and supported by ANSO, the workshop focused on fostering cross-border collaboration for climate adaptation and disaster risk reduction.

Key highlights: ✅NDMA spotlighted the growing risks of glacial lake outburst floods & flash floods due to climate change. ✅ Emphasis on early warning systems, climate modeling & science-policy integration. ✅ NIDM, under NDMA, led expert engagement by inviting professors, officials, and practitioners to share insights & best practices.

This initiative is a major step forward in translating scientific research into action—building climate resilience along the CPEC corridor through regional cooperation and evidence-based strategies.
