The Education Sector Working Group (ESWG) Pakistan, co-led by UNICEF and Save the Children, convened an orientation session to share updates on the Education Sector Anticipatory Action (AA) Framework for riverine floods at the Pakistan Institute of Education under MoFEPT.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Chair of the NCFAA, delivered opening remarks and provided key updates on advancing a unified and harmonized Anticipatory Action framework. The next NCFAA meeting, scheduled for April 2026, will further strengthen coordination and implementation guidelines nationwide.
NDMA also shared progress on establishing a National Data Repository on Anticipatory Actions, enabling partners to contribute resources that support rapid, pre-emptive action before emergencies strike.
The session highlighted advancements in anticipatory approaches for the education sector in high-risk districts and brought together key partners, including World Food Programme, Handicap International, Pakistan Red Crescent Society, CESVI, United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, and UN Women, among others.
Strengthened collaboration between NDMA, ESWG, and AA partners remains essential to ensuring children’s learning continues safely — and that education systems are better prepared for future shocks.
